Tell us about yourself and your family.
My husband, Tom Fiorita, and I have two children: Isabella, a freshman at Lafayette College, and a son, Cole, who is a junior at Brunswick. We also have two lovable English Springer Spaniels.
What do you do?
I am the CFO and a co-founder of a tech start-up – Point Pick-Up Technologies, Inc. in Greenwich CT.
Why did you start your business
Tom and I created the concept of allowing every person, every business and every store to have access to easy, efficient and cost effective local, same day delivery service. We set out to provide a solution that links people already driving with people who need stuff delivered, thus the point pickup app was born. Anyone can use our app to have anything delivered. The service is affordable since our Pickup Partners (drivers) are already driving. Everyone is happy – stuff gets where it needs to be and the Pickup Partners make money.
What sets your company apart from the rest?
Point Pickup is truly unique because it offers peer-to-peer delivery service. Anyone can request delivery – a busy mom, retailer, or business executive. At Point Pickup, delivery is not tied to a purchase. Also, anyone can become a Pickup Partner – some are professional drivers, some are regular people who want to earn extra money.
What led you to getting a Samsung phone?
Our Point Pickup app is available on Google Play, so we needed to test it with the Android operating system. I volunteered to be the Android tester and got to select my device. I was impressed with the Samsung lineup.
I have the Note5.
Does anyone else in your family or at work have one?
Right now I am the only one, but I’m working on
What role does your phone play at work?
After I started using my Note5, I realized how incredibly versatile it is, so now I use it almost exclusively for all my business communications. It’s easy to navigate and everything is super intuitive.
What are your 3 favorite features of your Galaxy?
That’s easy. The selfie camera is the BEST – it magically erases any imperfections. I also love the S Pen on the Note5 – it makes it so easy to annotate screen shots for my developers. And, I love the multi-window function.
What are your top 3 favorite apps?
Well, clearly Point Pickup is my hands down favorite, but I also like Skype and Knox, Samsung’s business security app for smartphones. I also think that the just-launched Samsung Pay will become a favorite
If you could design an app for the future, what would it be?
I am all about efficiency, whether it’s time or money. I also love to cook, so I would love an app that would search and compile the best recipes across my
favorite epicurean sites.
What do you think is the best invention (so far) in your lifetime?
I must say that a smartphone is clearly THE invention that changed my life in the most fundamental way. But if I were to think more globally – it would have to be antibiotics.
